tap·es·try [tap-uh-stree] a fabric consisting of a warp upon which colored threads are woven by hand to produce a design, often pictorial, used for wall hangings, furniture coverings, etc.  

I have always thought of life as a fabric - a fabric made of our own predisposed genetics but essentially a blank, raw material. The art of life is created with each second lived,becoming a miniscule coloured thread to our story.

Life is a recording of chance interwoven with outcomes, all in an adornment of colour and texture. Each thread created in moments, hours, days, months and years. 

Our canvas starts to fill with time. Patchworks of pain, love, beauty, heartache, gratitude, tears, laughter, joy and sadness.  This is the threaded weave of our lives. There are dark and light shades. The dark and light give depth and meaning to our masterpiece and even though we would sooner not have that dreaded darkness, it becomes relevant within the larger scheme of our canvas. It is a necessity for our artwork to have life and dimension - to be filled with interesting perspectives created from shadows and light.

In my mind, travel  brings more to our canvas as we learn new things, meet new people, taste new foods, embrace new cultures, make new friends and broaden our palette. This, I have always thought of as the gift of anothers palette, posessing colours of thread that I do not have at my immediate disposal. I am invited to go across and take some of this colour for myself so I may add it to my tapestry. 

To embellish your own canvas with the threads from other worlds is to create so much more to your own artwork and eventual legacy of a life lived.....
